Burkitt Application

Burkitt Application

September 6, 2010

In mid-October 2009, a new nine member Board of Directors was appointed to lead the Burkitt Foundation, an affiliated foundation of the El Paso Community Foundation. The new Board members have followed best practices in the field of philanthropy and extensively reviewed and evaluated the Foundation’s administrative and grantmaking processes. Over the last nine months, a needs survey was conducted and an evaluation was made as to how the current needs of the community can best be addressed by the Burkitt Foundation.

As past and potential grantees of the Burkitt Foundation Perpetual Fund, we want you to know of the areas for which grant applications will now be accepted. Applications from the following two areas will be reviewed for a three-year period:

- Catholic Schools (K-12) in the dioceses of Galveston-Houston, San Antonio and El Paso; and
- Hunger and Nutrition Services in the El Paso County area.

After the three-year period, further evaluation and review will be made as to how the Burkitt Foundation can best address the needs of the community and ensure that the mission of the Burkitt Foundation is achieved.

Grant applications will be reviewed in the fall of each year. For 2010, they can be completed online from August16 through September 17.
