Burkitt Foundation Perpetual Fund

Guidelines

Burkitt Foundation Perpetual Fund-Provides funding for:

  1. Catholic Schools K- 12 - Diocese of El Paso, Archdioceses of Galveston-Houston, and San Antonio
  2. General Charitable Purpose funding: Hunger and Nutrition Services-El Paso County

Catholic Schools

  1. Eligibility
    Within the targeted dioceses, individual Catholic schools K- 12, the diocese, or diocesan organizations are eligible for consideration. A diocese may submit proposals that “bundle” requests for multiple schools into one overall proposal.
  2. Funding Areas
    1. Tuition Assistance Initiative
      We are most interested in Tuition Assistance Initiatives that include incentives to attract new at-risk students; retain at-risk students and have the students complete their studies.
    2. Teacher Training
    3. Curriculum Development
    4. Libraries
    5. Capital Projects
      Includes any project that will increase student enrollment. Eligible projects include new construction, addition to existing facility, renovation, computer hardware, audio visual equipment, and furnishings and equipment.
      ***Please note –For new construction projects, the Burkitt Foundation Perpetual Fund  will only consider grants when our funds are the last dollars in; or there is a signed construction contract in place.

General Charitable Purpose

The Burkitt Foundation Perpetual Fund will direct grants to provide Hunger and Nutrition Services in El Paso County. We will be working with the West Texas Food Bank, a member of the Texas Food Bank Network and Feeding America; and therefore, independent applications will not be accepted for the fall 2010 cycle.

Limitations and Restrictions

Ordinarily, grants will not be made for:

  1. Individuals
  2. Fundraising Events or Projects
  3. Organizations that are Political or Partisan in Purpose
  4. Conferences
  5. Endowment Funds
  6. Political Organizations or Candidates for Public Office
  7. Lobbying Activities
  8. Recurring (Past) Budget Deficits
  9. Tournament Fees and/or Travel for Athletic Competitions
  10. Replacement of Government Funding Cuts
  11. Scholarships (Individual)

Caution: Your email address will be your user ID. It should be an email address that anyone accessing the grantmaking program can remember. Keep in mind your email ID is specific to your organization. Use another email ID if you are submitting an application for another organization. Give the same thought to the password you select.

As you begin the application process, you will input information about your organization. Using your user ID and password, you will always have access to your information and you will be able to update it at your convenience. You will not have to re-enter for each request.
