Ken Krueger
He had to do something. Ken Krueger saw all the soldiers being killed in Iraq, and he knew he had to do something. He knows something about the sacrifices made by our military men and women. He is a veteran of 22 years.
Ken joined the Army at a difficult time in our history. It was 1972, and America’s collective conscience was split over the Vietnam War. Ken was eventually stationed at Fort Bliss. He retired in El Paso with his wife, Maria and three boys. He became a truck driver, but never lost his sense of patriotism and pride in the Armed Forces.
Those values led him to serve again. Ken is in Iraq now—a civilian contractor, trucking food and supplies to the soldiers. When he saw all the people dying in Iraq, Ken took action right away. “If I’m there, that’s one less soldier that has to go,” he said. But that is only part of it.
Ken Krueger did something extraordinary for the families who lost their loved ones in Iraq. He and Maria gave a generous contribution of $10,000.00 to the the First National Bank Scholarship Fund for the Children of the El Paso County/Ft. Bliss Soldiers Killed in Action.
Ken Krueger’s commitment and compassion make him a Great Gift to El Paso. This fund, through the El Paso Community Foundation, will educate and inspire the next generation of patriots to honor the memory of their parents: the soldiers who sacrificed everything—for all of us.
