On October 14, 2009, the newly reconstituted Board of Directors of the Burkitt Foundation, comprised of individuals from across Texas, began their work of assessing and implementing the best practices in philanthropy that will ensure the mission of the Foundation is achieved. One of their first tasks has been to review the grantmaking process. The Burkitt Foundation will continue to focus on Catholic educational organizations and other Catholic activities, as well as nonprofit human service organizations. The Board will also examine specific funding priorities within these categories.

This process of study and evaluation will require sufficient time to allow the Board to make informed judgments on potential new directions in its priorities, or to make no changes in its current practices. Therefore, there will be no spring 2010 review of grant requests.

The next deadline for applications will be in the fall of 2010. We will keep you updated through the website.
