El Paso Community Foundation

Sharon was born in Galveston, Texas. After high school, she attended college and graduated from Baylor University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics and Office Management. In 1964 she was the only woman inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Business fraternity.

In 1976 she and her husband, Dr. Joe N. Kidd moved to El Paso. For thirty-three years Sharon has been employed with El Paso Southwestern Cardiovascular Associates as its bookkeeper.

In addition to her career, Sharon Kidd became active in community service as a volunteer for the American Heart Association and the Amigo Kidney Foundation. She co-founded the Women’s Resource Center and Ritzy Raggs which are now a part of the Center Against Family Violence.

In 2001 Sharon Kidd became the Chairman of the twelve person Plaza Theatre Steering Committee. The Plaza Theatre Steering Committee was the central decision making body of the El Paso Community Foundation’s Plaza Theatre restoration and construction project until its opening March 15, 2006.

Sharon and Joe Kidd made a substantial contribution to the campaign to purchase the Plaza Theatre which was the turning point gift in saving the historic building for all El Paso. This designated gift is named in memory of their daughter, Kendle who died in an automobile accident in 1982. The Kendle Elizabeth Kidd Performance Hall brings joy to all our citizens.

Sharon and Joe Kidd are the parents of Dr. Melanie Kuechle, Kendle Kidd, Dr. Joe Kidd, Jr.,
Son-in-law Dr. David Kuechle, Daughter-in-law Dr. Tracy Kidd, Grandchildren David, Kendle and Kathryn Kuechle and Kenneth and Cameron Kidd.
