Ways to Give

Giving is a powerful personal act that transforms our inherent desires for a better world into the reality of helping those in need right in our own community, of investing in the future of our own young people and of addressing critical needs wherever they may exist locally.

The El Paso Community Foundation would like to become your philanthropic partner in our common objective of building a better future for our unique border community. Here are some important reasons for giving through the Foundation:
  • We care about you - Your philanthropy is important to us and will be respected now and in the future. We’ll keep you informed about the status of your Fund and Foundation news. We’ll include you in special events with other members of our philanthropic family. We’re here for you every day. We will be your lifelong philanthropic service partner.
  • We know our Community - When you choose to invest in our area, you want to work with someone who knows the territory. The broad cross-section of leaders who guide our work lends valuable insight that will help your charitable giving achieve maximum results.
  • We can help you achieve superior tax benefits – Since the IRS considers the Community Foundation a public charity, contributions are eligible for the highest available tax deductions. In most cases, these tax benefits outweigh using your assets to establish your own private foundation.
  • We can make it easy for you – Establishing a fund can be done in less time than it takes to open a bank account. Our professional staff takes care of all the administrative and grantmaking activities, eliminating the need for you to set up a separate institution, formulate policies, file innumerable forms and monitor the status of grant recipients. Give now or later, as part of your estate plan. Regardless of asset size, we’ll help you determine what you can accomplish. We save you precious time and money by setting up your fund and completing all administrative tasks associated with your gift.
  • We share your interests – We are here to help you become connected to the projects and issues you care about most. Your charitable interests and priorities are most important to us because committed, caring citizens are crucial to our community’s well-being. We research, observe and learn about philanthropic opportunities every single day. Our expertise allows us to work with you to make the best philanthropic decisions. Our singular philanthropic focus provides insight to help achieve maximum results for you.
  • We care about the future – By setting up a fund in the El Paso Community Foundation, you have the ideal opportunity to create a legacy for you and for our area.
  • We value our community of donors - When you give through the El Paso Community Foundation you become a member of a special community of local philanthropists who maintain an on-going association with the Foundation. We keep you informed of Foundation news and developments through newsletters and reports and invite your attendance at interesting events in our wonderful facilities on the tenth floor of the historic Cortez Building.

How you can contribute financially:

  • Cash: Make a secure online donation now or send a check payable to the El Paso Community Foundation and designate a particular fund or interest area.
  • Securities: Give appreciated securities. If you have held stocks or bonds for a long period of time you could receive significant tax benefits.
  • Bequest: Make a gift in your will.
  • Life Insurance: Transfer a new or existing life insurance or annuity contract to the Community Foundation.
  • Retirement Plans: Name the Foundation as beneficiary of any IRA, 401(k) plan, or other retirement plan.
  • Charitable Trusts: Talk with a professional advisor about a plan that allows you to provide for loved ones as well as your favorite non-profit organizations.
  • Private Foundations: Transfer the net assets of your private foundation and turn all the IRS reporting responsibilities over to the Community Foundation.

These are the most common methods of giving. The foundation has a professional staff to assist you in identifying what works best for your personal charitable plan. Contact Janice Windle , (915) 533-4020.
